Update Your Profile

1. Open your profile by clicking on the Account icon in the left-hand corner.

2. Click on Profile and then Edit Profile to edit it.

3. Click on the profile picture to update it.

Notifications

Notification Preferences allow users to select how and when they want to be notified when various events occur within a course. Notification settings are applied to all courses. Canvas users can choose how often they want to receive Canvas notifications.

Communication Channels

First, set the ways you want to be notified. Canvas supports notification through email, SMS text message, and Twitter. You account already has your school email address as a communication channel.

If you want to receive notifications as text messages on your phone, click on the Account icon in the left-hand corner and then Settings. Then click the Add Contact Method on the right.

Set Your Notifications

Under Settings, click Notifications on the left. You can hover your mouse over a course activity item to see a description of that notification. Hover over the notification type you want to change and choose to receive a notification immediately, daily, weekly, or never.

Note: Under the Conversations section, leave all 3 options for "Conservations" set as the checkmark icon (ASAP). This will ensure that you receive any emails that your professors send through Canvas in your school email (you may also need to check your Outlook Clutter folder if the Canvas emails are not showing up in your Inbox).
