Learning Objectives: teamwork, approach to problems, presenting

We are asking that you present two possible problems that your team could investigate in a project that relates to this course. The problems that you identify should be based on data/literature demonstrating the relevance of your choices to the larger issues we have encountered in the course of the class. Projects that would based on these problems must also be feasible and not science fiction. This will require digging in the literature a bit and supporting your claims with evidence and examples.

Alternatively, if you have a problem/topic that your team has settled on, you can present it in two different ways, with two potential focuses and paths.

The key here is that we want to see the problems or topics that your team will work on throughout the project term- not solutions. You will get to solutions during the project term, but the initial work you will do now and in the first part of B-term is to develop your understanding of the problem/topic so that when you get to potential solutions, you will have a good handle on all of the aspects of the problem/topic you have chosen.

Your presentation should show the two problems/topics or two approaches to your single problem/topic side by side in a compare/contrast table or graphic. You will
present both ideas to the class – and the class will give you feedback and will vote as to which seems preferable. You need NOT be bound by their decision.

You should also build a project webpage which you will post these two ideas to with supporting literature. This webpage will be the start of your project webpage and will be developed and edited throughout B-term as you work on and refine the project.

Your team has 4 minutes to present and for this (and only this) presentation you do not need everyone to present. You do not need to write a report but you must upload your presentation to Canvas. Be prepared to field questions from the class so we can help your team select the best option.
