Create Assignments

To add assignments, go to the desired course and click on the Assignments link.

Open Assignments

Click on the + button under the Assignments group to quick add an assignment (you can also choose the red +Assignment button).

Choose "Assignment" next to Type (1) unless you want to create an online discussion or online quiz. Give the assignment a name (2), a due date, (3) and a point value (4).

To add more details to the assignment (including assignment instructions, changing the submission type to online, and setting an availability date), click on More Options (7). Otherwise, click on Save and Publish (5).

If you click on More Options, you will be taken to a page with a Rich Content Editor (2). Here you can add information on the assignment and/or link to a document (3).  Follow these instructions on how to add files to assignments. Links to an external site.

Along with specifying the point value, you can choose how you want points to display (e.g. display as points, letter grade, complete/incomplete, not graded).

You can also choose to allow students to submit assignments online and specify the types of entries they are allowed to make by checking the boxes under "Online Entry Options". If this is an assignment that is handed in or being completed in class, change Submission Type to "No Submission" or "On Paper".

To prevent students from submitting an assignment after the due date, you can add an Availability end date (2). You do not need to put in a start date. You can leave this section blank is you want to allow students to submit late assignments.

View Availability Dates

When you are finished adding all the details to your assignment, click Save and Publish.
