Create a Rubric
There are two ways to create a Rubric in Canvas. To add a general Rubric without assigning it to a particular assignment, follow option #1. To create and assign a Rubric to a particular assignment, follow option #2 (Note that whichever way you choose, you can always add rubrics to assignments later on).
Option #1
Go to the desired course and click on Outcomes.
Click the Manage Rubrics button, then Add a Rubric.
Follow the instructions below under Adding and Editing Rubric Criteria.
Option #2
Go to the desired course and click on Assignments.
Open the Assignment you wish to add the Rubric to.
Click the Add Rubric button.

Give the Rubric a title and then click on the first criteria to add a criteria description.
To modify (1), delete (2), or add ratings (3), click on the icons shown below.
Edit the point value for each criterion under Pts.
To add additional criterion, click on Add Criterion.
When you are finished, select Create Rubric.
Finding and Adding Rubrics to Other Assignments
To add a rubric to another assignment, click on the Assignment, then Add Rubric. Click on Find a Rubric.
Select the Rubric you want to use, then click on Use This Rubric.
