This week you will go through (or already have gone through) an Altium Designer tutorial that takes you through designing a simple astable multivibrator PCB. Tools like breadboards, function generators, oscilloscopes, Arduinos, and Raspberry Pis are all great for creating prototypes, one-off personal projects, or just learning electronics, but real products that hit the market don't come on breadboards or Arduino codes. Instead, they're designed for custom PCBs with precision-soldered components chosen extremely carefully by spec and cost. If instrumentation design is something you're interested in, this is an awesome step into the research and design of these components. If you're not, you never know where you'll be in the future, and even getting a little bit of knowledge in this area may be game changing. If you never use it again in your life, maybe you'll at least appreciate the engineers who do design this stuff next time you open up a phone or smart watch to replace the screen.
